Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme For Business Service Providers Dealing With Women Entrepreneurs

This programme is developed by International Labour Organisation's Women's Entrepreneurship Development (WED) Capacity Building Programme and is conducted as a modular based training programme.

This programme affords you the opportunity to fully understand and articulate the challenges the female entrepreneur faces nationally and globally, how to address those challenges and find sustainable solutions to overcome the challenges.

The course content includes the following topics :

  • ILO's approaches for supporting women entrepreneurs, including basic principles on gender equality in SMME development and women economic development
  • A framework for offering effective business development services to promote women's entrepreneurship
  • The role of lobbying and networking in promoting women's entrepreneurship
  • Various tools and instruments for promoting women economic development
  • Assessing the needs, challenges and gender-related issues of growth-oriented women entrepreneurs choosing to expand their business operations.

  • Micro, Small and Medium-sized enterprise (MSME) support organisations

 Training for leaders of women entrepreneur associations

The WEA Capacity Building Guide covers different topics on creating successful  WEA and uses practical activities  and discussions to create awareness on gender specific  issues. The emphasis on building the capacity of the associations and on strengthening their ability to serve their women members. Topics that are covered by the training include: Governance Principles of a WEAs. Organisation of a Business Association, Membership strategies, service delivery to members, leadership and strategic planning.

This is an opportunity for your organization to participate alongside other entrepreneur associations and support agencies in a proven capacity building strategy for WEAs and also influence how the project will work with WEAs in South Africa. Trainees will be  imited to 15-20 people so that there can be maximum interaction between trainers and participants. Also the modules covered by the training will be directed by the participants depending on the needs they perceive to be most important to their organisations. Participants should be involved with the running of the association and in the case of this pilot training the member involved with membership training and development would be highly relevant.
